Athens, Greece / Pau, France — OHB Hellas and Parsimoni today announced a strategic partnership to develop a secure, sovereign in-orbit software platform for next-generation space missions. The collaboration combines OHB Hellas' Versal Orbital HPC hardware with the Parsimoni Satellite App Store, powered by SpaceOS.

A European Sovereign Solution

The partnership addresses growing demand for locally-developed, secure space systems supporting European strategic autonomy. By combining Greek hardware innovation with French software expertise, the platform provides a foundation for defence, governmental, and commercial missions requiring sovereign infrastructure.

The first commercially offered solution will integrate Parsimoni's App Store — developed with support from the European Space Agency — with the OHB Versal Orbital HPC, launching with OHB's Fire and Cloud Detection applications for Earth observation.

Security Architecture

SpaceOS brings a security-first unikernel architecture to the partnership:

  • Zero Trust framework — no implicit trust between components
  • Post-Quantum Cryptography — protection against future quantum computing threats
  • CCSDS/SDLS compliance — standard space communication security protocols
  • Formal verification — mathematically proven correctness of critical components

When deployed on the Versal Orbital HPC, this integrated system delivers strong isolation between applications, efficient resource utilisation, and a robust foundation for scalable in-orbit software services.

Satellite-as-a-Service

The platform enables a new operational model for satellite operators. Rather than fixed mission profiles, satellites can be reconfigured mid-mission through virtualization, adapting dynamically to emerging needs. Operators can monetize unused onboard computing capacity by hosting third-party applications through the Satellite App Store — creating new revenue opportunities while meeting internal mission requirements.

A Long-Standing Relationship

OHB has been a validation partner for SpaceOS since 2023. This partnership marks the first dedicated joint project, deepening a relationship built on shared commitment to European space innovation.

About OHB Hellas

OHB Hellas, based in Athens, is a subsidiary of OHB SE, one of Europe's leading space and technology groups. Established in Greece in 2018, OHB Hellas provides end-to-end space systems solutions including orbital high-performance computing, space mission analysis, and structural engineering. The company maintains facilities in Athens, the Patras Industrial Area, and a branch office at the Science and Technology Park of Crete (STEP-C).

About Parsimoni

Parsimoni is transforming space mission operations with SpaceOS — a secure, modular operating system engineered to simplify spacecraft payload integration. Designed to balance software agility with space-grade reliability, SpaceOS delivers a unified platform for managing, simulating, and commanding spacecraft payload hardware. By enabling rapid configuration and deployment of software-defined space systems, Parsimoni empowers developers and operators to reduce mission complexity, strengthen cybersecurity, and accelerate time to orbit.
