Satlyt and Parsimoni Partner to Explore Interoperability for In-Orbit Computing
CEO
San Francisco, CA / Pau, France — Satlyt, the space-based cloud service provider creating virtual data centres in space, and Parsimoni, creator of SpaceOS, today announced a strategic partnership to explore technical and commercial interoperability between their core technologies.
Complementary Capabilities
The partnership will evaluate how Satlyt's distributed orchestration layer can complement Parsimoni's SpaceOS runtime to support emerging use cases in in-orbit computing. Together, the companies intend to develop pathways for running advanced workloads — including AI and machine learning processing — across heterogeneous satellite networks in secure, resource-efficient environments.
"Our mission at Satlyt is to make satellite compute capacity accessible and easy to use," said Rama Afullo, founder and CEO of Satlyt. "Parsimoni's focus on secure and efficient runtimes aligns well with our work in inter-satellite networking and task orchestration."
The Vision: Federated Satellite Computing
Satlyt is building infrastructure for a federated satellite computing mesh — enabling workloads to be distributed across multiple satellites from different operators. SpaceOS provides the secure runtime environment on each node, with its unikernel architecture ensuring strong isolation between applications while minimizing resource consumption.
This combination addresses a key challenge in the emerging in-orbit computing market: how to run third-party workloads securely on shared satellite infrastructure without compromising mission-critical systems.
About Satlyt
Satlyt is a San Francisco-based space technology startup pioneering AI-driven edge computing in orbit. Founded in 2024 by Rama Afullo — an industry veteran with experience at SpaceX, Google, and Tesla — the company is developing virtual data centres in space to bring computing closer to data sources. Afullo represented Satlyt as a finalist in SATELLITE's 10th Annual Startup Space Entrepreneur Pitch Contest.
About Parsimoni
Parsimoni is transforming space mission operations with SpaceOS — a secure, modular operating system engineered to simplify spacecraft payload integration. In 2025, SpaceOS flew on its maiden space mission aboard Clustergate-1 via SpaceX's Transporter-13 rideshare, a demonstration in partnership with DPhi Space. SpaceOS uses unikernel architecture to reduce system size (up to 20x smaller than traditional operating systems), enhance security through formal verification and post-quantum cryptography, and optimise performance through on-demand execution.
