Join us as a sponsor or partner to help prepare a groundbreaking event at which developers will be invited to upload their applications—malicious or not—directly into a satellite's payload computer running SpaceOS.

SpaceOS, the first Secure by Design unikernel satellite OS, is one of the most efficient (20x smaller footprint vs other multi-tenant alternatives) and safest for shared payloads or software-defined satellites.

SpaceOS has already demonstrated how robust it is when facing external cyber attacks in the MirageOS Pinata project (MirageOS is a core component of SpaceOS ensuring cyber security and interoperability). MirageOS withstood more than 150 000 attack attempts trying to obtain a ten bitcoin prize - there was no successful intrusion (https://hannes.robur.coop/Posts/Pinata)

We are now organizing a new, larger-scale project inviting satellite software developers to load their custom applications into the SpaceOS satellite payload computer. Uploaded applications (unikernels) are encouraged to attempt to exploit the platform to disrupt the host or other applications. They will not be manually inspected before being run. (The environment will be safe, with no physical risk to hardware or people.)

A prize pool is being created from various funding sources and sponsors. Participants who can successfully breach SpaceOS's isolation mechanisms or exploit the built-in applications will be awarded money according to the severity of the discovered vulnerability.

Why sponsor/partner?

  • Security of shared payloads is crucial, and no widely known secure solutions exist. You should support this project if you care about security and satellite reusability.
  • Preliminary feedback (from satellite industry experts and cyber security specialists) suggests strong interest. Being a sponsor is expected to generate broad industry awareness and goodwill as sponsors (partners) will be widely shared and promoted.
  • SpaceOS is poised to become the leading platform for secure satellite software. As a sponsor/partner in this event, you will get a unique insider view and have early access to benefit from SpaceOS.
  • Unclaimed prize money from sponsors will be used for further development of SpaceOS.

Why Will Developers Participate?

  • To Prove Their Skills: Attempt to breach one of the safest and most efficient satellite operating systems - from the inside, and experiment with the concept of unikernels
  • To Earn Recognition and Awards: Successful participants who can interfere with the host system or other onboard applications will receive special awards (we target a total prize pool of over EURO 50K).
  • Test Their Applications and Get Certified: Experience how their space apps perform in a multi-user satellite environment at no cost. Earn the “SpaceOS Compatible” mark.

The 'Welcome inside the satellite' hackathon is scheduled to launch during Cysat 2025. Extensive promotion is planned before the event to create awareness and ensure maximum participation from software engineers/hackers.

Today, we invite sponsors and partners to work with us as we prepare for this demonstration of the robustness of a platform built from the ground up to secure satellites. Please message us on LinkedIn or email miklos@parsimoni.co to discuss the best way to support this initiative!
